Posted on: June 12th, 2008 Why you should keep Wordpress up-to-date

Techcrunch explains:

Due to its popularity as a blogging platform, Wordpress has become a prime target for hackers looking to take over blogs for search-engine optimization (SEO) of other sites they control, traffic-redirection and other purposes. Recently there have been a spate of automated attacks which take advantage of recently discovered security vulnerabilities in Wordpress.

To date, Wordpress has been keeping up with the security holes by releasing updates within a few days of new exploits being found, but in the past few days new exploits have appeared that nobody seems to have answers for.

The article goes on the explain how one of its hosted blogs was hacked and hijacked, turning the front page into a billboard for pharmaceuticals and adult products.

Posted on: May 2nd, 2008 Update: Asus Eee PC 900 pricing

I wrote in a previous post that I thought that the new Asus Eee PC 90 was overpriced at P33,000.

Well, according to Yuga, the price may end up to be P24,995, which does sound more reasonable.

Posted on: April 20th, 2008 Is the new Asus Eee PC 900 overpriced?

I found out from Yuga’s blog that the new Asus Eee PC 900 is priced at P33,900 at PC Corner.   Overpriced?  Maybe, especially since one can reportedly get a Compaq laptop at less than P30,000.  Methinks that the big price difference is due to the Eee PC 900’s solid-state drive.

But even so, Asus’ original Eee PC was priced abroad at $399 and priced locally at P19,800, so if we take the same calculation, it should make the new Eee PC 900, at $549, at something like P27,250.  And with the dollar hovering around the P41-42 level, it should even be much lower.
